There were just eight elite skiers in the world who could claim a medal at the Whistler Creekside run, he said, "and we've got three of those eight". 


And those three didn't disappoint him on Thursday, with Marty Mayberry tied for the silver medal and Melbourne's Cameron Rahles-Rahbula just a 10th of a second away in fourth place.

Two women - one from Japan and another from Canada - had to be evacuated off the mountain for medical treatment after particularly nasty accidents.

Gibson said it was a hard race today as the sun has warmed up sections of the course.

At Oglebay Resort & Conference Center, the ski slope is closed for the season and golfers were out at Crispin golf course for an early tee-time. 


Workers there said they couldn't have asked for a better transition from ski to golf season and they're looking forward to being busy through the weekend.

So it's a good thing John and K.C. Gillespie, co-head coaches and father and son, occasionally can read each other's minds.

The Rim Shred Team (skiers and snowboarders) traveled last week to Mt. Shasta for the 2010 California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation (CNISSF) championships. 
Dozens of high schools competed on the icy Shasta slopes for top team and individual honors.
